Errata

  1. On page 329, for “Expressed as a percentage of tokens, 213 out of 219 ideophone tokens in the corpus, or 97%, are existing forms”, read the following:

Expressed as a percentage of tokens, 211 out of 219 ideophone tokens in the corpus, or 96%, are existing forms.

Typos

Typos are boring. With the help of a fantastic proofreading posse I have tried to eliminate most of them (thanks, Joe Blythe, Melissa Bowerman, Penny Brown, Rebecca Defina, Jeremy Hammond, Elisabeth Norcliffe and Lila San Roque!). Inevitably, some managed to slip through:

  1. p. 137 just above Table 6.3, “a geminate thrilled [r:]“. I like to think that this is not a typo and that thrilled /r/ is a very special manner of articulation. (Thanks to Jade Comfort for noting this one.)
  2. p. 227 last paragraph, “specialisztions“. For a moment I thought that my find and replace operation for Britishi{s/z}ing spelling had gone awry, but this seems to be a one-off.
